Room 99 Project – September Update

The Rojas family is gearing up for fall! Their top priority is making sure the transition to school goes smoothly for Sebastian. They had a great tour of Riverview this week and are excited by the opportunities the school offers.

Luis and Stephanie will begin EL (English Language) classes soon. If you’ve had a chance to talk with the family, you’ve seen how eager they are to learn. One thing that would support them in this process is a laptop, which would give them access to online resources in addition to in-person classes. If anyone has a gently used laptop, or would like to help fund a new laptop, for the family, contact Claire Hoyum (clairehoyum@comcast.net).

The Meal Train during August was a huge success. Thanks to all who contributed. The family appreciated the delicious food and being introduced to new dishes, including casseroles. We are going to extend the Meal Train through September. If you don’t have time to cook, feel free to make a cash donation. To sign up or donate, here’s the link: mealtrain.com/dydy7l

The Immigrant Justice Team’s main focus in the coming weeks is to secure an immigration lawyer for the family. We’re also meeting regularly with the pastors to make sure we are addressing the ongoing needs of the family.

Want to get involved, even for an hour a month? We need drivers and translators! Please contact Claire Hoyum (clairehoyum@comcast.net) or Lenore Franzen (lfranzen18@gmail.com) for details.
