At Gloria Dei we believe we are called to respond to the gospel by advocating for changes in systems and policies that keep people on the margins. Working in coalition with several different organizations and other congregations, we lobby legislators and other policy-makers to support proposals that would alleviate poverty and advance equality.

Justice and Inclusion programs

Immigrant Justice Team

The Immigrant Justice Team is dedicated to guiding Gloria Dei’s support for immigrants in our community through direct assistance and advocacy, congregational education, and participation in ELCA and local interfaith actions on behalf of immigrants.

The Room 99 Ministry is the current focus of the Immigrant Justice Team’s efforts. In the first half of 2022, the congregation converted an underused classroom (Room 99) to a studio apartment to provide housing to an asylum-seeking individual or small family. In July of 2022, we welcomed our first guests. The presence of our guests has blessed and enriched the life and ministry of the congregation. Racial Justice Committee

Gloria Dei’s Racial Justice Committee develops a strategic plan and coordinates Gloria Dei’s activities in support of racial justice and equality.
