Soul Food Book Discussion Group

Soul Food, a group that discusses books from a faith perspective, meets weekly from 9:30-11 a.m., on Wednesday mornings. Due to COVID-19, we have moved to online meetings. Email Pastor Lois Pallmeyer for meeting details.

We begin each week with a prayerful reading of the coming Sunday’s gospel text and prayer. Then, we discuss a few chapters from a book we’ve chosen to read together, including time for questions, Bible study and personal reflection. You’re welcome to come for all or any of the discussions. Your presence will make our conversation that much more meaningful. Our October meetings will discuss Ibram X. Kendi’s, How to be An Antiracist (2019). Kendi explores antiracist ideas—from the most basic concepts to visionary possibilities—demonstrating to readers the causes, consequences, and means of addressing racism in our systems and in ourselves. Our schedule for this book is:

Oct. 7: Intro, Chapters 1-5, Pages 3-68

Oct. 14: Chapters 6-9, Pages 69-121

Oct. 21: Chapters 10-13, Pages 122-180

Oct. 28: Chapters 14-18, Pages 181-238
