Prayers of the People, Third Sunday of Advent, December 16, 2018

Oremos. Let us pray.

Stir up your power and come. Come and bring love to the church.
Open our ears to listen to those on the quote-unquote “other side.”
On the other side of the religious spectrum;
on the other side of the political aisle;
on the other side of our community arguments;
on the other side of family conflicts.
Bring love to those who protest injustice,
and to those who pray quietly for all God’s children.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Oyenos, mi Dios. Listen to your people. Oyenos mi Dios

Stir up your power and come. Come and bring love to the world.
To refugees fleeing war;
to those looking for a place to sleep or give birth;
to those living under the fear of modern-day King Herod’s.
Bring love to families at the border;
to parents and families who are separated and terrified.
Bring love to the White House,
to the Congress,
to the Courts,
to parliaments and monarchies,
to emergency rooms and hospitals.
Come to farmers and bankers,
grocers and delivery teams,
to Alaskans and Palestinians,
animals and bugs.
Send your love to those who sit in jails
and to those who sit in traffic.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Oyenos, mi Dios. Listen to your people. Oyenos mi Dios.

Stir up your power and come. Come and bring love to those in pain.
To those close to us, and those far away.
To those that are so sad during this season;
to those who grieve
and to those who struggle with dark and dangerous thoughts;
to those who are addicted, and to those who are in recovery.
To those yearning to be pregnant, and to those with no children.
Bring your love to families facing divorce and those planning weddings;
to those moving for work and to those moving because of failing health.
Bring love to colleagues that resent each another;
and to homes filled with violent speech.
To those who are sick, those on the prayer list,
and all those we name before you now, silently or aloud.

Come, Lord Jesus.

Oyenos, mi Dios. Listen to your people. Oyenos mi Dios.

As you gather us together, so now gather these prayers into your love. We pray in the name of the one who is coming, Jesus Christ, our solstice and our dawning day.  Amen.
