Prayers of the People, Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 23, 2018

Oremos. Let us pray.

O God who finds favor with us,
You come to make your church a house of love.
Let us be signs of your compassion and your goodness in the world.
On the borders of doubt and faith, let us witness to your grace.
Where people are homebound or lonely, send your joy.
Where the earth is torn or damaged, teach us to protect, renew and restore.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Oyenos, mi Dios. Listen to your people. Oyenos mi Dios

O One who lifts up the lowly,
Lead the nations to act with justice and mercy.
On political and social borders, caught in meanness and hostility,
bring your gladness.
Bless nations in turmoil, especially Yemen, Syria and Afghanistan;
Bless those fleeing violence and living in instability,
and those who try to find solutions or offer support;
Bless our president, his cabinet, our legislators and local officials,
Bless those who are homeless living along our highways,
and those who seek shelter at Project Home;
Fill those who are hungry with good things.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Oyenos, mi Dios. Listen to your people. Oyenos mi Dios

O Coming Savior,
You remind us that nothing is impossible in your love.
Break open the hearts that have grown cold with resentment, bitterness,
and despair, and bring reconciliation to families who are estranged.
Hearten those who live with chronic pain, fear, depression, or anxiety,
Ease the stress of those with dementia and those who care for them,
On the borders between life and death,
comfort those who grieve, those who are sick, those who are dying,
especially those on our prayer list,
and those we name before you now, silently or aloud…. Silence
Fill us all with your joy.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Oyenos, mi Dios. Listen to your people. Oyenos mi Dios

Hear our prayers, and let our lives magnify the joy you bring to the world, that we may
rejoice in the coming of Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.
