March is Problem Gambling Month

For many, the culmination of the NCAA basketball season is a fun, exciting time. For others, March Madness is another opportunity to engage in an activity that has gone from recreational to addictive. March is Problem Gambling Month, a chance to look at personal gambling habits or those of a loved one and learn about available help

“No judgement, ONLY HOPE” is a theme of Minnesota’s problem gambling program, which recognizes problem gambling as a real and serious addiction. The Department of Human Services website offers:

  • Online assessments for people who worry about their gambling as well as for loved ones who wonder about someone’s gambling behavior.
  • Guidance for having a conversation with someone whose gambling worries you.
  • Contact information about Gamblers Anonymous and Gam-Anon, a support group for family and friends.
