Language of the Heart: An Interfaith Workshop

Carol Manfred Sack, an ELCA missionary to Japan for 35 years and Certified Music Thanatologist leads a daylong workshop that combines scripture, reflection, musical therapy, personal journaling, and a spiritual tea ceremony.  We will be joined by survivors of the Japanese tsunami who will share their stories.

Lunch and refreshments included.  Free admission, although a free-will offering will be collected.

Carol Manfred Sack, a missionary to Japan, provides prescriptive music through harp and voice at the bedside. From 2006-2008, Carol served as director of Lyra Precaria, a pastoral care adaptation of Music Thanatology. Carol has trained  Japanese women to use pastoral hap in hospices, hospitals and nursing home settings. She currently travels throughout Japan offering one-day retreats on the Psalms to rural churches. Carol also teaches a two-year lecture series through the Dale Pastoral Center of the Japan Lutheran Theological Seminary.
