Ruth Marie Alma Mueller Manz

Memorial Eucharist on Sunday, July 20, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Avenue South, Saint Paul, MN

Ruth was born to the Rev. John C. Mueller and Alma (Gaiser) Mueller in Drumhuller, Alberta, Canada, 14 August, 1919.  Entered Eternal Life 15 July 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Herbert and his wife, Helene, two sons and a son-in-law.

For Ruth life was an adventure.  She loved people-places-and valued things for their history.  Trained as a teacher, her life centered around her husband, Paul and their 7 children.  Paul’s career took them to many places and enriched their lives in ways not measured by material matters.  In addition, she was honored with the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce “Women of Achievement” Award in 1982.  She also was given the “Karen Gibbs Memorial Woman of the Year” Award and the “Cancer Care Volunteer of the Year” Award from Methodist Hospital in 1983.  Ruth was a woman of prayer-who loved reading and words.

After the death of her infant son, David, Ruth was blessed with 7 creative children: Michael Manz, deceased (Patricia) of Spokane, John Manz (Ellen) of St. Paul, Peter Manz (Stephanie) of Portland, Mary Mueller Bode (Joel, deceased) of St. Paul, Anne Mueller Klinge (David) of St. Louis, Sara Mueller Forsberg (Dale) of Minneapolis, John Mueller of Spokane; – 11 thriving grandchildren -  3 great-grandchildren – 2 caring sons-in-law – 3 gifted daughters-in-law – a dear brother, Charles and his wife Lois, deceased and their 3 children and their families.

Ruth loved her many friends and was privileged to have special mentors, Amy Jennings and Joseph Sittler, who gave her gifts beyond measure.

For Ruth, life was never dull.  She said her epitaph was to be “She hath done what she could”.
