Making a difference by adopting an apartment…and a homeless young person

That's what 10 Twin Cities area congregations are doing to help change lives for kids on the street.

Did you know that in Ramsey County, there is need for an additional 102 shelter beds for homeless kids? With 12 new efficiency apartments, LSS Rezek House is making an impact by providing a safe haven, supervision and important life skills training for homeless youth ages 16 to 21.

Local churches have not only provided significant financial support, but also contributed volunteers who are available to help kids with:

  • dental and optical care
  • legal

  • tax preparation
  • career and life mentoring
  • life skill training
  • tutoring

Because homeless kids are not just homeless, but also lack families and mentors who can teach them how to be strong community assets, these volunteers play a key role.
