Reading of the Day: Romans 5:1-5
“Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.”
Reasons to lose Hope
Well, there are many if I want to start a list: personal doubts, health problems, global warming, wars, and injustice. Just what is it that makes it possible to put my feet on the floor each morning, get dressed and walk out the door into this?
Reasons to have Hope
Here is another list, these are things that give me hope: a warm spring rain, an unexpected kind word, a smile from a stranger, and a hug from my son. These are all gifts from God that brighten my day and keep me hopeful. These alone are not enough until I include God’s finest gift, Christ. In his love is an unlimited supply of hope. In many ways for me, faith is hope. Gloria Dei brings me together with others to share that message in word and sacrament.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for your many gifts. Help us share your love and hope with one another as we walk through each day. Amen.
