Operating Fund* (Gloria Dei's Main Fund) Supports all regular activities including Worship/Music, Facilities, faith Formation, Outreach, Benevolence, Human Resources, Administration, Communications, and Development
*The Operating Fund is funded primarily by member contributions - annual stewardship pledges.
Capital Fund This fund is used to pay the building mortgage and any additional payments to apply to principal.
Endowment Fund (Long Term) Maintained in perpetuity. 3 - 6% distributed annually by the Gifts, Grants and Memorials (GGM) Committee according to their bylaws. Typically, 70% for internal uise, 30% for external use (10% variance permitted). Expenditures approved by congreation. Funded by special gifts, estate bequests, etc.
Special Designated Funds (Five) (Mid Term) These funds are funded by gifts from members. Monies deposited into these funds are intended to be held a minimum of 12 months prior to distribution. GGM determines where distributions will be targeted followed by approval by the congregation. No more than 50% of the fund's value is to be disbursed each year.
Mission Fund: to support local, regional and world outreach ministries Faith Formation: to support youth and adults in their lifelong learning and faith development Scholarship: to provide college and seminary scholarships for youth and adults of this congregation, including ELCA college scholarships and ELCA campus ministry activities Worship and Music: to sustain and enrich the Christ-centered worship life of this congregation Capital Projects: to fund significant maintenance projects, major renovations and new facilities.
GGM Fund (Short Term) Special contributions/memorials, gifts and bequests. Intended to be spent withing 12 months. Classified as Designated (for a specific purpose) or Undesignated. GGM Committee determines the allocation of Undesignated Funds.
