Reading of the Day: Psalm 62:5-7
“For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my deliverance and my honor; my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.”
My wife and I began attending Gloria Dei more than twenty years ago when we lived nearby in Highland Park. Our daughters participated in Gloria Dei Sunday school and confirmation classes, and Pastor Susan performed marriage ceremonies for both, and baptized our first grandchild. Gloria Dei has been my spiritual home, and I am grateful for the wonderful staff and welcoming community of church members.
What is most important to me about Gloria Dei are the consistent messages of love, inclusion, and hope that inspire and reaffirm my faith in a loving and forgiving God, as well as the messages that challenge me to reexamine by beliefs about what is important in my life, my marriage, my family, my community and my world. My life has been made richer and more meaningful through my participation with this Gloria Dei family. Thanks be to God.
PRAYER: Thank you, God, for this Gloria Dei family of faith. Enable us to be warm and welcoming to those we don’t know in our community who are seeking a church family. Let others come to know you through our words and actions. In your name we pray. Amen.
