On July 7, 2010, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and Holy Spirit Catholic Church sponsored a day trip to St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN to visit the St. John's Bible project.

Upon arrival we were met by Tim Ternes, the Director of the Saint John's Bible Project who welcomed us and then lead us to the Alcuin Library / Hill Museum & Manuscript Library for a Presentation on the Saint John’s Bible. Then was off to see 32 original pages from the Gospel and Acts volume. (Note: when completed in 2011 there will be 7 volumes:  Pentateuch, Historical Books, Psalms, Wisdom Books, Gospel and Acts, Letters and Revelation.)

A "special treat" was to be able to go into the vault and see many of the just completed pages of the Historical Books volume which just arrived from Wales.Just before lunch the group attended Prayer with the Monastic Community in the Abby Church.

At lunchtime we were treated to a marvelous deli Buffet Menu— home made chicken dumpling soup with an assortment of breads, sliced meats, hummus, lettuce tomatoes, onions and pickle spears accompanied by a vegetable tray or salad of the day, brownies or cookies and beverages.

Shortly after lunch we returned to the Abby church for a church tour.

We said goodbye to our marvelous host, Tim Ternes, and then it was off to the Munsinger Clemens Gardens in St. Cloud, MN. What a beautiful place and what a wonderful way to end a wonderful day.
