Dear Friends

I would like to thank everyone for the lovely words of recognition, all of your best wishes and the retirement gifts!

Years ago when I was first interviewed for the position of church administrator, someone asked me the classic question, “And why do you want to work for a church?”   It’s a query I, myself, have posed to various candidates that have applied for employment at Gloria Dei.  And the answers were inevitably interesting and gave us an opportunity to learn more about each other.

My response at the time was that I felt that one is impacted by the environment in which one is employed, and thus being at Gloria Dei, surrounded by members and involved in the activities of the church, surely this would have significant  implications and be a positive learning experience for me.  What I knew at that time about this church  specifically was quite minimal but I had trust in the welcome of this religious community.

And so, more than ten years later, I wish to express my gratitude to each of you, not just for the opportunity to work with the numbers and spreadsheets and administrative tasks at hand, but, more importantly, for creating and nurturing that impact, one that has enriched my life and faith.  I shall hold close many precious  memories of Gloria Dei and will remember the many acts of kindness and countless moments of caring.

Thank you.

Kathy Grant,  former Church Administrator
