Understanding Fundamentalism
Amraycase_20copyView Video (click on link and press start arrow) The influence of fundamentalist Christianity is felt in every walk of American life.  This program helps viewers better understand the story behind the rise of fundamentalism and the later evangelical movement, so that Christians, liberal and conservative, can find ways to open doors of dialogue and ecumenical fellowship. The program features insights from evangelical scholars from Wheaton College and Moody Bible Institute, as well as the ELCA's own Mark Wilhelm and Martin E. Marty. Understanding Fundamentalism unpacks the use of the name “evangelical,” and touches on the unique roles played by Pentecostal and African American churches in the story of fundamentalism.  It also looks at examples of ELCA Lutherans and conservative Christians working together across denominational lines in healthy ways. Finally, the program discusses the rise of religious fundamentalist extremism and its impact on Christians in the Middle East.

Understanding the Roman Catholic Church
DVDanddiskAfter centuries of mistrust, indifference and even hostility, attitudes between Roman Catholics and other Christians are changing. Dialogue, cooperation and understanding is healing old wounds, locally and up to the highest organizational levels.

The Roman Catholic Church is the largest block of Christianity. In the U.S. 65 million Roman Catholics are organized into 200 archdioceses and dioceses and more than 19,000 local Catholic parishes. Each year over one million infants and 70,000 adults are baptized in U.S. Roman Catholic churches. Yet for all its great size, influence and long history, many non-Roman Catholics understand very little about the largest Christian denomination.

The purpose of this video is to help Protestant Christians and others develop a better understanding of the Roman Catholic Church, its history and basic beliefs by listening to Roman Catholics tell their own story.

The 35-minute program is organized into three parts: Roman Catholic beliefs, Church history, Catholic Renewal.  The program includes interviews with  Roman Catholic theologians, scholars, pastors and lay people.  Portions of this program were recorded in Rome, Assisi, Trent and Casino, Italy. The Life Of Apostle Paul

About two thousand years ago Roman soldiers executed Jesus of Nazareth.  The story appeared to be over. But it was just getting started.  Within a generation, pockets of Greek, Roman, and Jewish members of a new faith, developed communities throughout the Eastern Mediterranean world. In time, that new faith, Christianity, became the official religion of the Roman Empire.

This is the story of early Christianity’s greatest missionary and leading theologian - the Jewish Pharisee and tentmaker from Tarsus who became the Apostle Paul.

"We know that in the first century there were women in leadership positions,." says Robin D. Mattison, The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. Use this Mosaic Television offering in your adult forum or women's gathering as a great way to spotlight the gifts and ministry of women in the church.
