Stewardship at Gloria Dei

Stewardship 2008

As Pastor Susan recently noted, we should think about giving as a privilege. To support what we believe in with our time, our talents, and our financial gifts is a response to the abundance of our lives. It is also an important way to ground all that we have been given in God’s call to generous giving.

Stewardship 2008 continues to focus on the stories that abound at Gloria Dei. At the October 28, 2007 adult education program, we heard stories told from the hearts of four of our members. Their stories touched our hearts:

  • A member who shared her story about arms and prayers that reached out to hold and protect her when her life took a frightening, unexpected turn.
  • A youth member who happily and enthusiastically shared his experience of faith formation at Gloria Dei, through worship, music, service opportunities, and, importantly, the many people who have supported him.
  • Others who have given freely of their time in important service ministries, told us that they have received far more from these efforts than they could ever offer or provide to those they set out to help.

You can make a difference at and through Gloria Dei. With your help and support:

  • Our children ad youth can participate in Sunday school, confirmation, service projects and gatherings with other young people of faith.
  • We can care for our bodies through our Parish Nurse program.
  • Our spirits will be cared for through Bible study, small group and family activities, and the extraordinary worship and music opportunities offered here.
  • And through our outreach programs we can reach out to support the needs of others in our community and across the globe. These include the Dorothy Day Center, the Jeremiah Program, offering a place of safety, rest and nourishment to those who are homeless, and support provided to San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala and Bangladesh.

By the power at work within us, God is able to accomplish abundantly far more than we all can ask or imagine. Please prayerfully consider your support for the Stewardship 2008 program. Celebration Sunday will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2007. Pledges will be received at all worship services.

We thank you again for your generous prayers, participation and financial support.
