The Nave
Gloria Dei...the beautiful name of our church is derived from two Latin word which simply mean, Give Glory to God'.  What finer reminder could be given to a Christian church than that its true function as well as that of all its people is to glorify God in all of life!

God's glory, according to our faith, is an eternal splendor that has been revealed to us in the midst of our earthly life.  Everywhere, if we are sensitive to God's presence, we will find traces of His great glory.  But most especially do we see it in the wondrous coming of our Lord into our world.  Through Him we can see the shining of Heaven's radiance, not only in His days on earth, but across all the span of the centuries.  Still today when we believe in Him we can trace His glory
upon our pilgrimage.

"Glory To God In The Highest, And On Earth Peace, Good Will Toward Men. We Praise Thee, We Bless Thee, We Worship Thee, We Give Thanks To Thee For Thy Great Glory. Holy, Holy, Holy, Is The Lord Sabaoth. Heaven And Earth Are Full Of Thy Glory. Hosanna In The Highest. Thou Art The King Of Glory, O Christ, For Thine Is The Kingdom And The Power And The Glory Forever. Amen.  (Inscription On The Nave Frieze)

It is this thought that is the motif behind all the rich symbolism in our sanctuary.  Especially in the rare artistry of our stained glass is this the dominant theme.  We were privileged to have the genius of an unusual craftsman in the execution of our art glass.  Mr. Robert Berg of the St. James' Kiln brought a subtle touch of modernity into
his design which is in perfect keeping with the Colonial windows.  They were done with infinite attention to detail by Miss Elizabeth Scott of Minneapolis, who brought the stained glass process to completion.

The process itself is an old-world technique, rarely, if ever, used in this manner in this country. The glass is an imported "fleche" glass which comes in double color, and a painstaking etching process is used which insures the deep richness of the reds and blues.  We have a series of windows that are a unique demonstration of the finest artistry in this field of the ecclesiastical arts.

We covet nothing greater than that our church shall constantly witness to all that there is no other glory greater in our world than that which comes to us from God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
