Reverend Paul K Peterson 1981 - 1989

Prior to going to the seminary Rev. Paul Peterson worked in  business and at the University of Minnesota before being installed as Associate Pastor of Gloria Dei in 1978 and as Senior Pastor of Gloria Dei on October 18, 1981.

Initiatives begun during his tenure include: more frequent inclusion of  the Eucharist in weekday and Sunday worship, five ministry teams,  phone recordings of Sunday readings and sermon, installation of an elevator,  support of immigrant families one from Ethiopia and Southeast Asia, a strong global mission program, lay assistants for worship service, revitalization of youth ministry, four-year confirmation program with mentors, the Stephen Ministry Program and the Lutheran Social Service Counseling outpost.

Pastor Paul served as a member of the Inter-Lutheran Commission on Worship and led the committee that developed the 1978 Lutheran Book of Worship (green hymnal).
