Rev. Sjogren accepted the call to Gloria Dei on March 1, 1910.  During his ministry the Gleaners, a group of women and girls started their first project, which was to get an altar. The Good Shepherd Chapel altar was added, and a member donated the stained glass artwork above it. The first church building on Hague and Victoria was consecrated on Oct. 12, 1912.

The choir presented Mozart’s Twelfth Mass in April 1913.    Gloria Dei Guide first issue published in April 1910 to help make Gloria Dei known to the community.  He took the name for the guide from Psalm 47:14 “God will be our Guide even unto Death.”  The first World War began during his tenure at Gloria Dei. An amendment to the congregation constitution eliminated male-only voting rights.
