| Reverend P.N. Sjogren 1910-1915 |  | Rev. Sjogren accepted the call to Gloria Dei on March 1, 1910. During
his ministry the Gleaners, a group of women and girls started their
first project, which was to get an altar. The Good Shepherd Chapel
altar was added, and a member donated the stained glass artwork above
it. The first church building on Hague and Victoria was consecrated on
Oct. 12, 1912.
The choir presented Mozart’s Twelfth Mass in April 1913. Gloria Dei
Guide first issue published in April 1910 to help make Gloria Dei known
to the community. He took the name for the guide from Psalm 47:14 “God
will be our Guide even unto Death.” The first World War began during
his tenure at Gloria Dei. An amendment to the congregation constitution
eliminated male-only voting rights.
