| Reverend Dr. Roy F. Thelander 1915-1920 |  | Born May 5, 1887 in Lindsborg, Kansas, Reverend Thelander graduated
from Gustavus Adolphus College 1910, and from Augustana Theological
Seminary, Rock Island, Il in 1914. He was ordained that year and called
to Grace Church, Aurora, IL. A year later he was called to Gloria Dei.
During World War I, Gloria Dei raised funds to send pastors to military
camps. In 1916 he led weekly devotional services at the St. Paul
streetcar and railroad shops. The Gleaners strengthened their interest
and support of missions.
Thelander left Gloria Dei to direct a school for the children of
Lutheran missionaries in Kikungshan, Honan China.
