The Gloria Dei Library
P1015747001
The Gloria Dei Church Library was established in November, 1932 as a Sunday School Library with 150 donated books. The collection has expanded to include 500 children’s books, about 3000 fiction and non-fiction books for adults, 100 framed art works, magazines, music CD’s, books on tape and a large collection of videos. Computerization of the library is in progress as is changing the catalogue system from the John Irvin Lutheran Church Library System to the Dewey Decimal System.

The library is staffed by volunteers who are available during open hours on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings throughout the academic year. Volunteers meet monthly to make decisions on purchases, donations and conduct business in accordance with the mission statement.

The mission of the Gloria Dei Church Library is to maintain books, periodicals, works of art and other media to promote spiritual growth and provide for the educational and recreational
needs of the Gloria Dei community consistent with Christian values.

Donations to the library are welcomed and are reviewed by a committee for duplication and appropriateness.

Volunteers are welcomed. Our volunteers range in age from 16 to 92 years of age and work about two hours every six weeks.
