Acolytes
Processional_Crucifix_2_2
Acolyte means "One who follows."
Gloria Dei's youth, in grades 9-12, are active leaders in worship through our acolyte program.  Acolytes are scheduled on a rotating schedule across the year.

Jesus said, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”     --Mark 8:34

The word acolyte means one who follows. While performing the duties of an acolyte, one is following God's call to serve, love, and honor each other in Christ's name. Within a worship service, acolytes also serve as leaders, and others follow them.  Bearing the signs of Christ’s presence (cross, scripture, water, light, bread and cup) within the gathered assembly of the people of God is an opportunity for both youth and adults to live out their baptismal vocation in leadership, and provides an opportunity to serve as a disciple who follows Christ.
